Your Accent Affects Recruiters
First, the state of your teeth and smile were affecting your job opportunities, so the government announced new equal opportunities legislation to combat such discrimination but how will they cope with the latest news that a Home Counties accent is the most appealing accent to recruiters? It’s a puzzler.
Research from the tip top boffins over at TipTopJob.com shows that 46% of jobseekers think employers discriminate against candidates with heavy regional accents. So the TipToppers put it to the test and 19% the 1000 people survived preferred a Home Counties accent. 14% quite like the Scots, 9% crossed the Irish Sea, 7% loaded up the Capri and favoured Essex while only 6% could stomach the Welsh. It makes you wonder what employers are really looking for, personally when I interview I’m looking for excellent dictation skills and superb tea making capabilities.
