Dragon “no” to Facebook in office

Theo-no Greek half-wit Theo Paphitis wants Britain’s bosses to ban Facebook in the workplace after Portsmouth City Council had discovered that their staff were “wasting” on average 400 hours on the site every month. Good old Matt Alder for pointing out that this actually equates to just 5-6minutes a month PER staff member. Don’t get put off by a boss that hate social media in the job interview: Matt’s right that Facebook is a excellent way to stay in touch with a social &/or professional circles. As Matt points out what this does show us is that Theo’s Ryman’s or Portsmouth City council will be pretty rubbish places to work. If you don’t smoke, you’ll likely be spending a lot more time at your desk than those that do – outside drawing on a gasper, networking with their emphysemamatic colleagues.

I guess that would entirely depend on the company’s industry and working environment. I mean if you’re a PR company or somehow related to sales and marketing efforts, getting through Facebook and listening to your customers is a vital part of the business.

But if you’re a company which does not involve any of that, then I guess Facebook will undeniably be a time-waster for most of the employees which deserves a ban from the workplace.
