Consider a work placement?

Description:

All students benefit from taking a placement you dont just learn the skills of the job, but you learn life skills as wellerlike how to get up in the morning and to work on time (harder than it sounds!)

A lot of employers use the student placement as a year long interview, so they train you up and then offer you a job when you complete your degree. Result!

For a decent placement start early. Research the companies that you might want to work for and think about whether you want large or small company experience.

The small company will tend to through you into all facets of the business; big companies look good on the CV.

Students doing placements get work experience; they get paid; they hone presentation and communication skills; and most importantly get to check they like the career that they are thinking of embarking on after graduating.

So approach it as brilliant experience for getting a career and making the most of your job interview. You can really tell who has been on a placement: they are the students who are more focused and achieve great results as they are driven by knowing where their degree will take them.

Placement graduates basically have a wider, more mature view of life and the working world and employers love that.
