This is Sue Latham and she knows a lot about networking, so has decided to tell you about it too. Networking is a much under estimated skill and is all about being able to build links with others who could then be able to introduce you to new opportunities. Its not all about selling yourself, its more about offering yourself but not in that way! Offer people your skills, dont be afraid to blow your own trumpet and put your name out there if someone is talking about something you think you could do. Youll be amazed how many people you already know that you could be part of your job finding network, but take it one step further and start reading industry press and attending events. How do you go about Networking? Well Sue can help you out with some top tips: 1. Have an objective in mind. What are you trying to gain? 2. Have a well rehearsed opening line such as can I pick your brain. Itll open the conversation and is nicer than wandering up and asking can I have a job Want more information?
