Description:
The Lessons weve learnt at e-courier.co.uk For Jay it has been: Finding a co-founder is a great first step as its someone else that thinks the idea is worth doing and its also someone that is there with you and supporting you every step of the way. Be very careful in the amount of money you raise, because most likely it wont be enough! Everyone says it, but you are likely to be overly optimistic about things like sales. For Tom it has been: Picking your investors well is incredibly important. Its important that they can support the business and that you can work with them. Getting good people involved quickly with the business is a must. At first with e-courier.co.uk we didnt have much money and felt we could do everything ourselves and scrimped on staff, but as soon as you bring in good people it makes a real difference. Thinking ahead with the end in mind when you structure your relationship with your investors is a good thing to bear in mind. Things like what is the exit? How could that come about? Whats required from the business to get it from where you to where you want to be? It gives you focus and hopefully a better plan for what youll need in terms of investment, people or skills.
